Head of Systems Engineering
Hours: Permanent role, three or four days a week
Location: Home based
Salary: Dependent on experience
We are seeking a Head of Systems Engineering, due to the retirement of our current employee. The role of this individual is to review the design and engineering of existing fire protection systems, in particular fire detection and alarm systems, and also to prepare feasibility reports and tender specifications and drawings for new projects.
It requires an individual with a proactive, organized approach, with superb customer focus, who has at least ten years’ experience of fire protection systems engineering.
Qualifications/experience:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
- Ideally a chartered engineer and a fellow of the professional body
- Ten years’ experience of fire protection systems engineering is preferred but a minimum of five years’ is essential
- Articulate with excellent communication skills (spoken and written English)
- An approachable personality with a willingness to tackle a range of jobs
- Capability in CAD
Key responsibilities:
- Act as an independent witness for inquiries, court proceedings or litigation actions
- Carry out inspections and tests of fire protection systems and equipment
- Prepare designs and specifications for fire detection and alarm installations
- Provide ad hoc advice to clients on demand
- Research information required by clients or other consultants
- Carry out training and lecturing in relevant aspects of fire safety
- Undertake management of projects or provide specialist advice for project managers

Senior Fire Safety Trainer
Hours: Permanent role, full time hours.
Location: Home based.
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Benefits: Company car, bonus subject to company & personal performance, contributory pension scheme, private medical care.

Qualifications/experience:
You should have at least eight years’ experience of delivering training courses on a regular basis and this should be complimented by some experience of fire safety consultancy. Ideally you will have a teaching qualification or be able to demonstrate (or evidence) the ability to deliver training effectively. However, a building control background would be considered with relevant experience of delivering training. You will need to have a good working knowledge of:
- Fire safety legislation throughout the UK
- Technical handbooks (Scotland)
Either
A relevant degree level qualification with Fire Safety Consultancy experience beneficial.
Or
Experienced in fire safety within a fire and rescue service or as a Local Authority building control officer/ building standards verifier (minimum eight years).
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a mix of one day, two day and four/ five day training courses either with another trainer or independently.
- Assist in developing new training materials and courses.
- Provide mentoring to delegates in resitting fire risk assessment examinations.
- Provide one to one mentoring.
- To be able to deliver exceptional training, with a pragmatic approach.
- To deliver a mix of training both face to face and remotely via Teams or Zoom.

- Willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Fire Safety Consultant – South East
The successful applicant is likely to have:
- At least eight years continuous recent experience in fire safety with a fire authority, possibly at supervisory level or equivalent experience in building control.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and British Standards.
- Knowledge of fire engineering principles.
Much of the work will involve carrying out fire risk assessments for corporate clients throughout the UK, as well as providing general fire safety advice, including advising on projects in existing buildings and new build schemes. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A company car is provided. You should be based in the South East of England. This is a home based role with travel required.

Fire Safety Engineering Consultant
The successful applicant is likely to have:
- A degree in Fire Engineering.
- A minimum of three years fire safety engineering experience.
- An ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and British Standards.
- Knowledge and experience of developing CFD models.
The work will involve developing fire strategies for corporate clients, providing general fire safety advice, including advising on projects in existing buildings and new build schemes as well as completing fire risk assessments.
