What is BAFE SP203?
BAFE SP203 is a scheme which recognises the importance of providing compliant fire detection and alarm systems and therefore assists in minimising false alarms.
BAFE SP203 has been set up as a modular scheme covering the different work activities associated with fire detection and fire alarm systems. These modules are:
- Design.
- Installation.
- Commissioning and handover.
- Maintenance.
The practice was the first in the UK, and remains one of only two practices, independently certificated under the British Approvals for Fire Equipment modular scheme for fire alarm specialists, in respect of design and verification of fire detection and alarm systems. In this context, verification is a process defined in BS 5839-1, in which a designer or totally independent party carries out an audit of a fire alarm system, after commissioning, to determine, so far as is reasonably practicable, compliance of the design, installation and commissioning processes with the recommendations of BS 5839-1.
We do not carry out installation, commissioning or maintenance work, we have qualified to undertake:
- System design, and
- Verification (which is compulsory under the Scheme in order that a BAFE certificate can be issued for the system).
